Iowa’s Students First Education Savings Account (ESA) application for the 2024-25 school year is open. For the 2024-25 school year, the ESA amount will be $7,826. Applications will close on Sunday, June 30, 2024 at 11:59 pm. Please review additional information below.

Information for returning ESA participants: 

  1. Applications are REQUIRED to be completed ANNUALLY to verify student eligibility through confirmation of Iowa residency.
  2. Students that received an ESA in the 2023-24 school year are not subject to income requirements to determine ESA eligibility for the 2024-25 school year.

Information for new ESA Participants: 

  1. Students that did not attend an Iowa accredited nonpublic school in the prior year are not subject to income requirements.
  2. Students that did attend an Iowa accredited nonpublic school in the prior year but did not receive an ESA are subject to income requirements based on 400% of poverty level.
  3. Income eligibility requirements by household size are available in the chart below and on the Students First ESA web page.

Additional Information:

  1. Only ONE application is necessary per family. Siblings can be added as they become eligible.
  2. Applications are available in English and Spanish.
  3. Application Deadline: Applications will be accepted until Sunday, June 30, 2024 at 11:59 pm.
  4. NEW THIS YEAR: Immediately following approval of applications, students will be able to select the school of their choice. Schools will then be able to see the student(s) in their Odyssey dashboard.
  5. Additional 2024-25 program details and deadlines will be communicated upon application approval.
